Moving From California to Oklahoma? Here’s What You Need To Know!

I’ve met quite a few people who have moved from California to Oklahoma. Most of them have had preconceived ideas of what it would be like to live in Oklahoma. Some of those ideas were right and some were wrong. If you are planning on moving to Oklahoma from California, here’s some things you need to know.

Not Everyone Listens Only To Country & Western Music

My wife and I were camping at a local lake when a lady happened to walk by singing a song by the group Journey. I, being the out going friendly person that I am, said, “Sounds like Journey!” She seemed stunned. She told me she had just moved from California and had thought we all listened only to Country & Western Music. Wrong.

Sweet Tea

Our banker moved here from California. I asked her if she had to get use to the food being different here. She got this big smile on her face and said, “I love sweet tea!” If you are moving here from California, be ready to be around a lot of sweet tea drinkers.

Other Things You Need To Know

You can buy a lot more house for the money in Oklahoma than you can in California.

Smokin’ Joe’s Rib Ranch is located at 3165 Jollyville Rd, Davis, OK 73030. (Pictured below is my daughter on the left and her friend, from California, on the right!)

The two biggest cities are Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

We have a professional Basketball Team called The Thunder!

It can get hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

Most people are friendly.

There’s a lot of truck owners.

There are a few Bigfoot sightings from time to time but mostly in the South East part of the state.
